Wedding Dresses - How to Buy Dreamy Wedding Gowns Online

By Stacey Martin Wedding dresses are literally the icing on the cake on every bride’s wedding day. You can find perfect wedding gowns online, or simply brainstorm which style of wedding dresses to start looking for as you narrow down your search. First you need to determine which types of wedding dresses are right for you. Your wedding dress should tell the world exactly who you are. After all, this is YOUR day, and your wedding gown is the key way that you share yourself with your wedding guests and, of course, your husband-to-be. By now, you’ve likely given some thought as to what kind of wedding you would like to have: traditional, informal or a theme wedding, perhaps. Here are some general guidelines: In formal weddings, brides generally wear long white/cream-colored wedding dresses and a veil, perhaps a train and, of course, gloves. In semi-formal weddings, brides generally wear long white/cream-colored wedding dresses, a veil and gloves if desired. In informal weddings, brides have more flexibility. They can wear wedding gowns of any color short or long or even a suit. What about theme weddings? Here you should decide first on the theme and then on the formality of the wedding you’ve always wanted to have. Only then is it time to shop for wedding dresses and wedding accessories to determine which ones match your theme! As you can see, the most important aspect to consider when selecting wedding dresses is your own sense of style. For specifics on what’s appropriate to wear for each type of wedding, I recommend Emily Post’s Wedding Etiquette, which devotes an entire chapter to wedding dresses and other fashion dos and don’ts, or Vera Wang on Weddings, in which Wang shares her vast fashion expertise with you as you plan your wedding. Both can be purchased from any major online bookstore and have great tips on buying wedding dresses. How can you purchase wedding dresses online? The Internet can be a tremendous help when you’re looking for wedding gowns and have a tight wedding budget. And let’s face it most of us do have to keep the bottom line in mind when we plan the most important day of our romantic lives. After you have given some thought to the type of wedding you want to have, I recommend that you: Look through bridal magazines and check out your options by flipping through the pages to see which wedding dresses are available in your area. Go to local bridal stores and try on wedding gowns. Look online to see what other wedding dresses are available to you. In case you’re uncertain about buying wedding gowns from an online vendor, bear in mind that there really are online bridal shops that deliver the same level of service as regular stores. Compare the in-store price to the Internet dress stores to find out which is the better deal. Many online stores offer you discount wedding dresses because of their vastly reduced overhead costs! Narrow down your search to a handful of wedding dresses that make your final cut. When you’ve gone through all these steps, you’re certain to have accessed all the wedding dresses available to you — and you will very likely save your hard-earned money if you end up finding discount wedding dresses available only from an Internet vendor. Good luck with your search! Though it might seem daunting at first, if you follow these tips, you’ll be well on your way to finding a beautiful range of perfectly elegant wedding dresses. Stacey Martin is the publisher of MarriedBliss.com, where you will find objective reviews of online wedding vendors, tips on wedding planning, advice on where to buy wedding dresses online and much more helpful content for brides-to-be and couples planning their weddings. http://MarriedBliss.com — Plan your wedding with the help of the Web! Eat and Lose Weight Quickly!

By C. Barela It may be surprising to find out there are over 58,000,000 overweight people in America alone. The weight loss industry has become a $123 BILLION dollar a year industry! So what does that tell us? Some people are making BIG bucks from diets, pills and exercise programs that just don’t work! We have certainly all heard of the Atkins diet, South Beach diet, low carb, low calorie, low fat diets, Jenny Craig and so many more. Many people go from one diet to the next without much success and many gain even more weight than they started out with. I got in a car accident which laid me up for several months. I was on prednisone for pain and gained almost 60 pounds! Because of the pain I was in I had very little energy to exercise. I got very depressed and started to give up. Since I had been a trainer in a health spa and very healthy most of my life, it was just not acceptable to myself for me to be over weight. I decided to stop feeling sorry for myself and do something about it. I learned a lot while I was a trainer. If you cant do a lot of exercises, you can certainly help yourself by the foods you eat. Just as you can eat and pack on the pounds, you can also eat to take them off. By eating certain foods at different intervals throughout the day, it will turn your food into fuel that will burn off instead of becoming stored fat. Your body becomes accustomed to the food you eat and adjusts its metabolism accordingly. Thats why starving yourself and reducing calories just dont work. If you eat 2500 calories a day, thats what your body is gets used to. If you reduce your daily calorie intake to 1000 calories, it will adjust to that as well and anything extra will be stored as fat. Thats why when we diet and especially when we get off them, we usually end up gaining more than we started out with. The trick to losing weight is to speed up your metabolism. By alternating and eating the correct foods at specific times, your metabolism may greatly speed up and burn stored fat. It is by far the easiest way to lose weight and it really does work. If you want to lose weight you can do it quickly with very little effort just by eating the correct foods at the right time. You will never starve and you will soon be looking and feeling great. I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to get rid of those unwanted pounds! You may be surprised how quickly you can achieve your desired weight! Cathy lives in Salt Lake City, Utah. She loves the mountains, outdoors, sports, music, writing and helping other people achieve their goals. Ask Me No Questions, I’ll Tell You No Lies

By Bonnie Lowe If only there were no questions involved in getting a job! If you’ve been following NBC’s “The Apprentice,” you know who Omarosa Manigault-Stallworth is. She’s had the honor of being fired by Donald Trump (and others, according to “People” magazine). A while back, Omarosa claimed that one of the other contestants made a racial slur against her. According to website opinion polls, only 10% of viewers believed Omarosa’s claim; 90% thought she was lying. These poll results were showing BEFORE viewers of the April 15, 2004 episode saw Omarosa lie to members of her team, including her “boss.” It wasn’t a little white lie, it was a biggy. And it had nothing to do with trying to win the game, because she’d already been fired from the competition. I won’t go into the details… talking about Omarosa could keep me busy for about 50 pages. I believe that, despite Omarosa’s obvious intelligence, talent and skills, her decision to tell lies rather than take responsibility for her actions (or inactions) is going to ruin her career. It’s a real shame, because she has so much going for her. But her lying will be her undoing. And when she fails, she’s going to blame others. She reminds me of… uh-oh, I’m starting to get off on a tangent. Back to my point… don’t lie to employers… or potential employers! Telling a little white lie when you “call in sick,” is one thing. Lying about your qualifications on your resume or during a job interview is quite another… do not do this, no matter how tempted you are! It will come back to haunt you! When you’ve been struggling to find a new job, have you ever thought about: Putting a friend’s name as your previous boss on the application? Making something up about your experience so you’ll match the desired qualifications? Exaggerating your education? Saying you resigned from a job when you were really fired? Failing to mention a little felony conviction from couple of years back? Maybe the company in question is trusting, understaffed, or lazy and won’t do a background check. But are you willing to bet your career on that? In this fiercely competitive job market, the temptation to lie in order to boost your chances of getting a job can be pretty strong. But BECAUSE the job market is so tough, employers are getting tough, as well. Very few are now taking resumes and applications at face value. Trust is nice, but when it comes to their hard-won personnel budget, ever-increasing demands for better customer service, and their sometimes-fragile reputations, companies are taking no chances with the people they hire. No matter how desperate you are for work, lying is a bad idea. Most employers will check your references (carefully), do a thorough background check, and find out about your “inaccuracies.” Let’s say you “exaggerate” your qualifications on your resume. The employer is impressed and calls you in for an interview. She asks about your qualifications, and you must lie to back up your resume claims. She falls for it, fails to verify your references or background, and hires you. Can you breathe a big sigh of relief? Nope. Now you have to back up your claims with your job performance. If you start to struggle, chances are good that you’ll start to lie again. Eventually people will get suspicious, and the background check will finally be done. You are busted! But the sad story doesn’t end there. You lose your job and vow to never lie again. You correct your resume… but wait… what about that job you were just fired from? It only lasted a few months. Would leaving it off be lying? If you leave it off and are asked during an interview about that employment gap, what would you say? So you decide to include it on your resume. Then you’re asked in the interview why you left your previous job. Oh no! You tell them you left because it wasn’t the right fit. This company does check you out, and get the truth from your previous employer. Now they know you were fired. But worse, they know you lied about it. There go your chances for THAT job. See the nasty snowball effect that lying can cause? Don’t do it! You may reprint/republish this article if you include my name and a link to this website. America Asks More Questions about the Second Coming of Christ

By Michael Bresciani Question Isnt the book of Revelation just so many symbols and thus should not he placed on the level of other clearer messages of the Bible? Answer The book of Revelation is replete with symbolism; but so is much of the rest of the Bible. We should give no less credence to it than to any other part of the Bible. Symbolisms were used to guide an entire nation of ancient Egyptians and to protect and give hope to generations of Israelites. All of this was done in the very first book of the Bible, so if we are going to lessen the veracity or the practicality of biblical symbols we would have to start at the beginning of the Bible. If we start there, we will find countless other symbols not to trust and in the end we will have chopped up a great deal of Gods word. We dont have the right to remove even one letter from Gods word physically, but we are not to remove it by spiritualizing it or nominalizing it either. When Egypt was about to undergo one of the worst droughts in its history, Pharaoh had a dream filled with symbolism that deferred the worst from happening. When Joseph interpreted Pharaohs dream he secured a future for his own generation of Israelites. Genesis 41:1f It might do well to note that the very first recorded prophetic message in the Bible was a dream also filled with symbolism. Genesis 37:5f Josephs dream of the sun and the moon and the stars would outline the history of his people forever. Why then should it be hard to see Revelation and its symbols as the outline for only one small seven year long period. The very first prophetic utterance in the Bible is referred to as the Prote-Evangelium, and it uses symbolism. Genesis 3:15 There is where the first promise that Christ would overcome all evil is found. Highways around the world are covered with universal traffic symbols. Language and lore is embellished with symbols. Theater, television, business, culture, and our own daily conversation are saturated with the use of symbolism. How is it that we have thought God couldnt use symbols to covey part of his message to us, and that it could he trusted. And how is it that those who are so quick to point out that this is the most educated generation in the history of the world, cannot seem to find a way for implicit and explicit teachings in the Bible to co-exist and compliment each other. To persist in this silly fear of the symbol comes under the heading of hypocrisy rather than confusion, if we would he honest enough to admit it. Question Arent many of the pictures and symbols of Revelation much like those of the Old Testament and are they just borrowed from the Old Testament? Answer I find it hard not to answer this question with a simple yes, but so what, but for the sake of the more serious student of the Bible I will try to address the question in a more persuasive manner. Many New Testament references are made from the Old Testament. Jesus, the apostles and many others referred to the Old Testament scriptures and its symbols. Have we forgotten that the Bible is to the Christian after all only one book, not two? If God were not so faithful in his revelation to us we might find huge differences between the symbolism of the old and new testament. That would no doubt give rise to another group of people who would argue against the validity of the Bible because of the enormous disparity in the images presented in the Old Testament as compared to those of the New Testament. Doubters will never be satisfied with anything. Believers are glad that God has given us one comprehensible picture of his intentions in sixty six books, spread out over thousands of years. This alone is a miracle. When John received the Revelation of Jesus Christ on the Isle of Patmos, we can imagine how relieved he must have felt when he saw it didnt diverge very much from the messages given to Daniel, Ezekiel, Jeremiah and others. If it had been that radically different, he may have been inclined to dismiss it as not having come from God in the first place. We can thank God that John knew the voice of his Savior as Jesus promised he would, John 10:27 and he could see its consistency with the rest of the messages given to his predecessors. I am also thankful that when I saw a vision of the sun darkened and the moon glowing the color of blood, that when I finally saw that description in the Bible it wasnt something unfamiliar or strange. It takes no genius to comprehend that though the symbolism of the New Testament is similar to that of the old, it is only to supplement, advance or further elucidate the message not just to borrow from it. Borrowing from the Bible or any other source to enhance a vision that purportedly came from God would make the messenger not a visionary or prophet but a common liar. The last time I looked, God was still calling only those who are searching for, living for and willing to die for the truth, to become his messengers. Student Loans Regardless of Credit History: Make a Choice

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Jones_Fischer]Jones Fischer Passing through University can be tough. Especially if you have to break your hiney off to get money in order to pay education costs. I know what I’m saying. I went through it. I had to work hard and study even harder if I wanted to continue studying. I already had some student loans but it wasn’t enough, and I was afraid I wouldn’t get another because of my credit history. Then, a friend of mine introduced me to non credit based student loans. At first I was skeptic about them because he told me there were secured student loans and unsecured student loans. Hearing those words made shivers come up my back. I though what kind of people would give student loans regardless of credit history to guys like me. I definitely wasn’t the best guy to loan money to, and my credit history showed it. Education at all Costs I thought about it for some time but I knew I had to make a choice sooner or later. Either I opted for the student loan without credit check or I told my parents to loan me some money and feel them saying the all time dreaded words… “I told you so”. I wanted to get my bachelors degree so bad within a week I had a decision. It was a close call but I chose to get the student loans regardless of my credit history. Education is very important in my family so I had to finish university not only because of myself and my future, but because of my parents and brothers. Getting the student loan was the best choice I could take because with it and a couple more I ultimately finished my higher education. The way I see it, student loans are there for a reason, and they are there to help you out. Palm Trees

By Kevin Stith The mention of palm trees immediately brings to mind images of long afternoons by the beach with the gentle swishing of fan-shaped leaves as they sway in the sea breeze. Palm trees are indeed found in coastal regions and in tropical climates. But did you know that there are at least 2500 species of palms in the world, and that a good number of them can be grown in our homes? You can grow palm trees in your backyard like more and more people are opting to do. The palm trees ability to withstand extreme temperatures and their obvious tropical charm has made them favorite backyard plants in many less-urban parts of the United States. Palm trees are best described as tall trees with the leaves and the fruits crowning over their long trunks. Belonging to the scientific family called Palmae or Arecaceae, they are mainly identified by the fan or feather-like leaves they sport. Most of the palm trees in the United States are cold hardy and are found in mainly southern California, Florida and Mexico. The hardiest palm trees that can withstand extreme winters are found much further north. Widely used for ornate decorations, many species of palm trees are now commonly found in the United States and are not native to the country. They have been imported from different countries and naturalized. For example, the Chinese Fan Palm, the Brazilian Queen Palm and the Triangle Palm from Madagascar, are now found in Florida. Though there are drought hardy palms and cold hardy palms, cold hardy palms are best suited to American climatic conditions. Needle palms, Mediterranean fan palms and Butia palms, can withstand temperatures as low as -25 degree Celsius and -12 degree Celsius and thrive in American homes and farms. Palm Trees provides detailed information on Palm Trees, Artificial Palm Trees, Silk Palm Trees, Types Of Palm Trees and more. Palm Trees is affiliated with Christmas Trees. Top 5 Reasons Why Women Over 30 Don’t Lose Weight And Keep It Off

By Naweko San-Joyz Have you heard about it lately? Everywhere you look, women over 30 can find one hundred excuses for not being able to lose weight and keep it off. Blame it on your thyroid, cortisol, menopause, your hectic lifestyle or even your genes. But, the real reason you find yourself battling those last 15 or 20 pounds all comes down to how you handle five major issues. #5 Not Understanding How Diets Work Atkins, South Beach, The Zone, Dr. PhilYou could spend a lifetime trying the over one thousand diets on the market. Have do you simplify things? How do you know youve found the magic diet? Even though this fact may burn the ears of many women, the truth remains that if you want to lose weight, eat less and exercise more. Ouch! I just heard some lady scream from the pain of realization. But thats how a diet works. Just like you can find medical documents that praise and persecute popular diets, you will always find that most medical studies prove that this weight loss formula is just as effective as it was some 3.5 million years ago when Lucy used it- eat less, exercise more. So dont put so much power into the name of your diet as to the nutritional content of the diet. In short, each and everyday you need to eat proteins, fats, and carbohydrates. #4 Not Exercising Enough Your personal trainer told you and now the FDA is barking down your throat, Exercise more! The only way to divorce cellulite from those thighs is to create a fat deficit. Thats the only way your body will utilize those excess fat globules. My favorite way of knowing that I vacating unwelcome cellulite, or encroaching cellulite, is feeling the tingle in my legs as I exercise for 40-50 minutes at a time. You dont need to run yourself dogged, just exercise smarter as researchers at the University of Pittsburgh suggest. After monitoring 201 overweight women using various exercise methods from high-intensity and long, to low-intensity and short, this study featured in the Canadian Journal of Health & Nutrition found that women who exercised briskly for at least 50 minutes, five times a week while using a sensible diet, lost an average or 25 pounds in six months. #3 Giving Up Too Quickly Youll hear it in gyms and offices all across America. I didnt lose 20 pounds in two weeks so that diet obviously sucks. As shocking as it sounds, too many women believe that weight loss should be fast. While Cosmo and Star will promise to divulge the starvation secrets of how models lose mounds of weight in days, dont buy it. That stuff might work on Mars, but if you want to see real results, you need to give your body at least eight weeks, or ideally 12. This is because, when you diet, your body wholly resists this change and it is actually going to test your dedication to sticking with the diet. While you can try to trick your body with get-skinny-quick-diets like ketosis induction or protein diets, you cant stay on such diets for life. Eventually your liver will exhaust from handling excessive amounts of protein. Plus your breath will stink. Yuck! Remember, patience, while repulsive to some, is a dieting virtue. #2 No Focus In a world of too much to do and too little time to fit it in after soccer practice, how are you going to stick with a diet? You have priorities. You wake up everyday, maybe go to work, eat somewhere and collect a paycheck somehow. You will only do the important things. Moreover, you will only do what gives you visible pain or pleasure. If your diet is not actively moving your away from pain and etching you closer to pleasure, youll relegate you diet to the trash, because the diet proves psychologically useless to you. Priorities on the other hand, give you real benefits or punishments if theyre not respected. For example, wouldnt it suck this weekend if you couldnt buy those Nine West shoes because you ditched work on Wednesday and Thursday. The same applies to your diet, wont it suck when you cant fit into that $250, two sizes too small dress you caught on sale at Neiman Marcus? #1 Weak Self-Confidence Theres a great line in Don Miguel Ruizs Beyond Fear, We only need to protect ourselves from ourselves. This is certainly the case when dieting. Whether or not you maintain your self-confidence and self-trust while dieting will determine your dieting success. Dont base your self-confidence on outside events or those mean people that call you fat behind your back. Safely house your confidence within, and base it on who you are, not on what you succeed or fail at doing. Ruiz, penned another cool line, The normal state of the mind is hell. I just heard an Amen! from the audience. Dieting will be hell if you let your self-confidence slip. Ok, so go get your pen and jot down these five dieting keepsakes and place them in your purse as a reference. 1. I eat less, and exercise more. 2. I exercise moderately five times a week for 50 minutes at a time. 3. I am giving myself at least six weeks to see results from my diet. 4. My diet is a priority and I know the long-term payoffs of my successful weight loss. 5. I am confident and trust myself to lose weight. Whats that now? Silence? I dont hear a single dieting excuse coming from anywhere. My work here is done. Are you a pro at yo-yo dieting? Let Naweko show you how to go from slob to sexy using the secret mind tools that even fitness models wont tell you about. Life Insurance Quotes - Which Life Insurance Option is the Best One For You?

By Claire Bowes Life insurance is becoming more and more popular with many people now realizing the importance and the benefits of a good life insurance policy. There are two main types of popular life insurance, both of which offer a range of invaluable benefits to consumers. Level Term Life Insurance Level term life insurance is the most popular type of life insurance policy with consumers, and this may be because it is also the cheapest form of insurance. With level term insurance, you and your family can enjoy peace of mind at an affordable price. If you die during the term of this insurance policy, your family will receive a lump sum payment, which can help to cover a number of costs as well as provide some degree of financial security at what will inevitably be a difficult time. The money could assist with costs such as: Mortgage repayments Funeral costs Education costs for the children Day-to-day living One of the reasons that level term life insurance is a fair bit cheaper than other life insurance is because the insurer only has to make a payment if the insured party passes away, and even then the insured party has to die during the term of the policy for the next of kin (or the named beneficiary) to be eligible for a payout. One of the great things about levels term insurance is that you can benefit from cover for just a few pounds each week, and because the payments remain the same throughout the term of the policy, you’ll never have to worry about rising payments. The reason why a level term insurance policy is so called is because the repayment remain level throughout the term of the policy, so you will never have to worry about the cost of your policy rising. The policy is also taken over a fixed term, which is where the ‘term’ part of the policy comes in. This means that you can enjoy easy budgeting and low cost repayments, and you’ll know exactly how long you will be making payment for. On the downside, once the policy expires you will not be able to reclaim any money and the policy will be cancelled, so you will then need to look at taking out alternative life insurance cover. The average term of a level term life insurance policy - unless otherwise specified - is fifteen years. There are a variety of factors that contribute to the cost of the policy such as whether you go for the most basic package or whether you include a bolt-on such as critical illness cover, whether you are a smoker, your general health, and the term over which you take the policy out. Whole Life Insurance Unlike level term life insurance, whole life cover offers a guaranteed payout, which to many people makes it better value for money in the long run. Although the repayments on this type of cover are more expensive than level term insurance, the insurer will make pay out whenever the insured party passes away, so the higher monthly payments will guarantee a payout at some point. There are a number of different types of whole life insurance policies, and consumers can select the one that best fits their needs and their budget. As with other insurance policies, you can tailor-make your whole life insurance cover to include additional cover such as critical illness insurance. The variations on whole life insurance cover include: Non-profit whole life insurance policies: This is the simplest form of whole life cover, and enables you to enjoy the convenience of level payments through the term of the policy until you die. Upon death, your family received a payout and the policy becomes null and void. If you want to pay a little extra, you can take out a policy that is fixed over a specified term, which means that you will only be making payments for a certain amount of time, but your family will still receive a payout when you die. With-profit whole life insurance: This is a cover and investment type scheme, where your monthly payments are split between your cover premiums and the investment side of your policy. You will enjoy a guaranteed assured sum, and you may find that your insurer adds discretionary bonuses. Low cost whole life insurance: One of the cheapest forms of whole life cover, this type of policy features a decreasing term plan, and the policy is combined with a profits fund. As bonuses are added to the profit side of the policy, the policy term decreases. This provides a cost effective solution for those that want to enjoy the benefits of whole life insurance cover without having to make high monthly payments. Unitised whole life insurance policy: When you purchase this type of whole life cover, you will also be investing in with-profit units. This means that when the insurer makes a payout, the sum awarded will be dependant upon the value of the units in comparison to the value of the death benefit (the payout will be based upon whichever is the highest in value). Each month units are cancelled in order to increase levels of death benefit cover, with reviews carried out from time to time to ensure adequate levels of death benefit cover. Summary Both level term insurance policies and whole life policies offer valuable peace of mind to policyholders. The cost of this type of life cover is a small price to pay for the peace of mind that comes with being protected, and you can increase this peace of mind by adding extras such as critical illness to your policy for just a small extra fee. As a nation, we like to insure just about everything we can - our cars, our homes, our belongings, our pets, and even our credit repayments. It therefore makes sense that we should insure the most important thing of all - our lives. Taking the Kick Out of Coke

By Susan Scharfman The Coca-Cola Companys marketing genius over the past century has perpetuated an American myth, a horse and buggy Gilded Age saga formulated in a laboratory and shrouded in secrecy equal to that of the National Security Agency. The company would have us believe that a little known folksy pharmacist, Dr. John Stith Pemberton, while poring over his steaming cauldrons, created the mystery syrup in 1886 to which carbonated water was added and presto! The most famous soda fountain drink in the history of the world was born. In reality John Pemberton, a highly respected Atlanta businessman with an extraordinary gift for medical chemistry, imitated a French coca wine formula originally cooked up by a European chemist. Referring to it as an invigorator of the brain, Pemberton claimed it could cure a variety of ailments from indigestion to nervous disorders and sexual dysfunction. When the city of Atlanta introduced Prohibition in 1886, he substituted sugar syrup for the alcoholic wine and called it Coca-Cola. When Atlantas prohibition ended in 1887, he put the kick back in Coke, calling it French Wine Coca. With due respect to Dr. Pemberton, a severely wounded Civil War veteran addicted to morphine, whose bones rest in a Columbus, Georgia cemetery, if you dig up a Corsican fellow by the name of Angelo Mariani, you will uncover another chemist whose lifelong interests lay in various mind altering concoctions. Dig deeper and you will discover the truth about Coke, the birth and evolution of which the Coca-Cola Company has given very different sworn testimony. Although Angelo Mariani came from the mountainous island of Corsica, a dazzling uncut emerald in the Mediterranean, he decided to make Paris his home, and it is there he experimented with different coca leaves, which he imported from South America, green housing thousands of plants for his research. In the course of many drug-induced mind journeys, Mariani discovered that steeping the very purest of coca leaves in Bordeaux wine disguised the bitterness of the leaf, and produced an elixir he named Vin Mariani. The wine became the most popular tonic of Europes royals and aristocracy for three decades. Even our American President, Ulysses S. Grant imported it. And no wonder since it also contained pure Kola nut caffeine, which enhanced the effects of the cocaine. Hence, Mr. Mariani became a very rich man. Unfortunately for Pemberton, bad health and bad luck followed him to his grave. Prior to his death in 1888, he had engaged in some fuzzy maneuvering with a renowned entrepreneur who purchased the recipe for about $200. When the United States Eighteenth Amendment went into effect in 1920, national Prohibition nixed the use of alcohol and it was again removed from the formula. But the cocaine remained. In copying Marianis brainchild, John Pemberton had produced the soda fountain beverage that bears no resemblance to what is guzzled by the millions of gallons today. The original wine ingredients had always been a secret, and so too were those of Coca-Cola. If you ask the company when exactly the cocaine was removed (early in the 20th century), they will tell you it never existed. Where did the name come from? As for phosphoric acid content, I remember my father using Coke to clean his car engines. Youd have to be a Kola nut to believe company hyperbole, or hire multiple lawyers to challenge it and lose. Yet, because of its storybook mystique and widespread presence in the remotest backwaters of the planet, Coca-Cola remains today the most valuable liquid gold on earth.
